NATURE AND SCOPE:
The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, furniture and other items, as well as construction/fabrication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build items as described by interpreting sketches or plans and performing skilled carpentry work in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled work associated with the repair and finishing of building maintenance and construction to ensure customer satisfaction and a safe working environment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs to building components.
- Operate a variety of trade related hand and power tools of all types: including but not limited to: hammer, drills, skill saws, jack hammer, etc.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools and equipment
- Accurately record logs, documentation and records within given timelines
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS:
CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S):
- Red Seal certified Carpenter or Journey person with significant experience Carpenter within Canada
- Requires Government of Canada Reliability security clearance
- Requires valid Canadian passport
- Requires Valid Drivers license and ability to obtain a DND 404
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Journeyman carpenter in a commercial or industrial setting
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques and requirements
- Knowledge of related safety regulations
COMPETENCIES / SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in all carpentry tools
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised.
- analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to improvise, analyze, troubleshoot and implement instructions and conceptual drawings.
- Ability to read building plans is an asset
- ability to manage a multi-task workload
- excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- ability to work/contribute well independently and in a team environment
- ability to live and work effectively and in harmony with people of varied backgrounds
WHAT WE OFFER:

Fly-In Fly-Out Schedule: 8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site rotation. Travel from home to site is paid from any location in Canada, with overnight stays in Thule, Greenland, as required.

Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, plus employer-matched pensions up to 6%.

Competitive Compensation: Hourly rate of $56.76-$59.75, 40-hour workweeks (Monday–Saturday), and opportunities for overtime. Additional $27 daily isolation allowance while on site.
