NATURE AND SCOPE:
Reporting to the Power Plant Supervisor, the Bulk Fuel Services Technician will be responsible for ensuring that bulk fuel systems are maintained and repaired as required to support fuel systems and handling operations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all POL tasks, inspections and tests on the POL tank farms including the pumps and lines Maintain, repair and inspect the Bulk Fuels System (BFS) tanks and pipelines on a daily and weekly basis
- Conduct and document daily and weekly preventative maintenance and inspections in accordance to the POL System PM Plan which includes but is not limited to cleaning and lubricating equipment; packing valves; replacing strainers; changing filter and monitor elements; installing gaskets; making adjustments and minor repairs to pumps, air compressors, diesel engines and other equipment; pumping water out of dykes
- Perform fuelling services with POL products for authorized aircraft, outlying building and miscellaneous storage tanks/units which includes the transfer of fuel from the tank farms to the day tank and portable tank
- Assist in de-fuelling operations from aircraft wing tanks under direction of Flight Engineer
- Respond to emergencies of spills of POL or system failures within timeframes specified in the SOW
- Perform repairs on all fuel supply systems (restoration of services) as per industry standards
- Take receipt of bulk fuel and ensure that the fuel is deposited in the appropriate storage facility
- Measure fuel levels using the DND owned PETROTAG system
- Maintain a daily plant log, including any abnormal operating conditions or malfunctions, and the quantity of fuel used and transferred
- Test fuel and verify equipment used under normal operation (fuel filtration system, delivery nozzles/pumps) such as the clear and bright test; free water test; conductivity test and FSII test
- Accurately record all work orders in daily logs or preventative maintenance books for the facilities, as well as records or normal and abnormal operating conditions and malfunctions along with corrective actions taken
- Test for the BRIX and LOUT of the de/anti-icing fluids upon the receipt of each delivery of de/anti-icing fluids and prior to each application
- Participate in committee meetings as required, e.g. quality assurance, environment, health and safety, etc.
- Performs other duties assigned by a higher authority
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/LICENSE(S):
- PM3 Certification or equivalent
- Fuel handling courses in accordance with applicable territorial/provincial legislation
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in bulk fuel facility similar or greater in size to CFS Alert
WHAT WE OFFER:

Fly-In Fly-Out Schedule: 8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site rotation. Travel from home to site is paid from any location in Canada, with overnight stays in Thule, Greenland, as required.
