What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of construction equipment (including earthmoving, aerial, and compact equipment). Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and mentorship to other technicians, including apprentices and new hires.
Ensure all work meets Cooper’s safety, quality, and compliance standards.
Coordinate with the Branch Manager and Parts and Service Coordinator on workflow, parts ordering, and equipment readiness.
Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
Take the lead on challenging repairs as a senior technician.
Foster a positive, collaborative shop environment focused on teamwork and continuous improvement.
Contribute to a professional and safe work environment; ensure physical facilities are kept clean and organized, and that company policies and procedures are followed.
Assist with field service calls where needed.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
6+ years of hands-on mechanical experience working on heavy construction equipment.
Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or equivalent work experience.
Previous leadership or mentorship experience is an asset.
Deep understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools. Must be confident with using technology.
Understanding of construction equipment and rental fleet operations is an asset.
Valid Class G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
Must have own tools.
High degree of mechanical aptitude – able to diagnose problems and identify practical fixes.
Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Leadership skills - able to effectively train, guide and support apprentices and other technicians, contributing to a safe and positive work environment.
Flexibility -must be comfortable with managing and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Must be able to work effectively under pressure.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology
Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.
Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
