Job Description: Job Summary The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the review and analysis of financial reports of ministry units within an assigned group. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyze financial statements and reports for ministry units, prepare projections, and perform additional research and analysis as required by the Finance management team. The incumbent will supervise, coach and mentor the Financial Analysts on the Ontario Finance Team. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated professional with extraordinary interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in working collaboratively and strongly influencing the overall program within The Salvation Army. Key Accountabilities Analyze ministry unit financial statements and suggest improvements for financial health. Advise and support ministry units on financial systems (Shelby, Business World, TEM), especially for new finance staff. Ensure ministry units comply with Salvation Army policies and best practices. Assist ministry units with annual registered charity information return (T3010A) preparation. Complete account reconciliations and prepare complex journal entries for approval. Review and approve periodic external funding reports for ministry units. Monitor and assist ministry units with working capital reserve planning. Review year-end statements and external audits for ministry units, recommending adjustments as needed. Lead the annual budgeting process and liaise with ministry units for fiscal planning and budget approval. Supervise, mentor financial analysts and collaborate with other departments on high-impact projects and process efficiencies. Education and Experience Qualifications Completion of an undergraduate degree, with a major or concentration in accounting or finance. Completion of the CPA accounting designation program. Minimum of six years of prior related accounting/business work experience and working knowledge of software systems. Non-profit experience is an asset. An in-depth understanding of integrated, cross-functional system environment. Exceptional financial modeling skills with advanced Excel knowledge Exceptional analysis and problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to work as a team member Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word is essential; experience in Shelby Web accounting would be beneficial Excellent verbal and communication skills Commitment to quality customer service An “out of box” thinker, with ability to work under minimal direction Ability to read, understand and modify complex text where accuracy is essential. Ability to participate in management presentations and training if needed Self-motivated and disciplined Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
