The Thordon Bearings Shipper and Receiver will coordinate and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of products and supplies for Thordon Bearings, Thomson-Gordon Group and its customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure products are packaged in accordance with shipping standards and shipped on time.
Complete all bills and releases, and ensure they are filed daily, weekly or monthly, as required.
Communicate and direct all related procedures for customer-specific shipping details within the law.
Adjust the inventory levels when products are taken from stock and packaged for shipment per customer order.
Ensure all documentation is following the package received or shipped.
Follow up on all shipping and receiving documentation and certification discrepancies.
Verify all shipments and receivables are accurate in accordance with the packing documentation.
All shipping tasks are accomplished with little or no supervision.
Ensure all shipping and receiving documents are entered into the computer database daily.
Assist with the unloading and loading of trucks or couriers.
Notify and distribute items to the intended department or staff in a complete and safe manner.
Maintain adequate containers and equipment for shipping purposes.
Inspect received goods and report damages and discrepancies to the logistics department or appropriate staff immediately.
Use safe and appropriate transportation or lifting devices to move products.
Ensure all dangerous goods are packaged and labelled according to packaging regulations.
Expedite hazardous waste removal as it applies local and municipal guidelines.
Keep the work area clean, safe and organized at all times.
Any other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. This employee is also subjected to lifting, bending, and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing these duties, the employee is subject to the conditions of a manufacturing environment, such as dirt, noise fumes, heat, and outside weather conditions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to work independently
Requires good housekeeping skills
Computer literate
Crating and wood packaging knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 12
Prior shipping and receiving experience
Fork Truck Experience is an asset
