Job Summary:
We’re expanding our IT Infrastructure team and looking for a Senior Storage Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR) Specialist to help strengthen our data protection and business continuity capabilities. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level backup and disaster recovery solutions across hybrid environments. You’ll ensure data is secure, recoverable, and protected against hardware failures, cyber threats, and other risks that could impact business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement comprehensive backup strategies for on-premises and cloud environments.
Install, configure, and maintain backup software and hardware, including upgrades and patching.
Monitor backup jobs and system performance to identify and resolve issues, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Regularly test disaster recovery plans and validate data restoration procedures.
Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for backup, recovery, and DR operations.
Optimize storage performance and cost through techniques such as deduplication and compression.
Analyze storage growth trends and forecast capacity requirements.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to mitigate performance issues, including CPU saturation and workload rebalancing.
Adjust backup scheduling to reduce peak CPU demand and minimize impact on production workloads.
Rebalance virtual machine workloads across clusters to alleviate resource contention.
Participate in DR testing exercises and document outcomes for continuous improvement.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in storage and data protection.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
Proficiency with backup tools such as Veeam, Commvault, and Azure Cloud backup solutions.
Experience in cloud technologies (Azure or AWS).
Experience with storage platforms including SAN, NAS, VMware VSAN, and Azure storage solutions.
Strong understanding of Windows and Linux system administration and CLI-based tools.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
Familiarity with Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with ITSM and ITIL frameworks.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and documentation abilities.
