About Dominion Dynamics
Dominion Dynamics is building Canada’s first modern defence prime: software-defined, attritable, and sovereign.
We believe tomorrow’s military power won’t hinge on exquisite platforms, but on the seamless coordination of adaptable, AI-driven capabilities across every domain. We’re building that family of systems, fielded with operators, sovereign by design, and accountable to Canada’s democratic values.
We move fast, deploy with the CAF, especially in the Arctic, and operate with uncompromising respect for Canadian law, treaty obligations, and the CAF community.
Our founding team includes former operators from Anduril, Google, Amazon, and the Canadian Armed Forces. We’re building hard tech in hard places, and we're looking for system-level thinkers who thrive at the intersection of autonomy, aerospace, and national security.
Why This Role Matters
Every mission thread begins with trustworthy sensing. In harsh, noisy environments, data quality depends on smart sensor selection, clean signal chains, and robust integration into embedded systems. This role turns diverse sensing requirements into calibrated, low-noise, EMI/EMC-aware hardware that survives the field and delivers reliable measurements to the software stack - bridging the gap from lab prototype to deployable capability.
The Role: Electronics Design Engineer, Circuit & Sensor Integration
You’ll design, integrate, and validate sensor interfaces and supporting electronics; from selection and signal conditioning through PCB design, calibration, and field verification - working closely with firmware, mechanical, and power teams.
What You’ll Do
Design, prototype, and test electronic circuits for interfacing with a wide range of sensors (i.e., optical, environmental, geospatial, spectral, chemical, etc.).
Evaluate and select appropriate sensors based on performance, accuracy, environmental conditions, and cost.
Develop and implement signal conditioning, amplification, and filtering circuits for sensor outputs.
Integrate sensors into embedded systems, ensuring compatibility with power systems, microcontrollers, ADCs, and communication interfaces to MIL-STDs and other relevant commercial and safety standards.
Collaborate with firmware engineers to optimize data acquisition, calibration, and processing algorithms.
Conduct validation and calibration testing to ensure sensor performance meets design requirements.
Create detailed technical documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, installation instructions, operating guidelines, and test procedures/reports.
Support production and troubleshooting activities, identifying and resolving hardware issues.
Stay current with emerging sensor technologies, materials, and integration methods.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
5–7+ years of experience in electronic design and sensor system integration (or equivalent practical experience).
Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
Hands-on experience with common sensors (i.e., MEMS, optical, thermal, environmental, etc.).
Proficiency with EDA tools (i.e., Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD) and their integration with mechanical design tools (i.e., SolidWorks, etc.).
Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers (i.e., STM32, ESP32, AVR, ARM Cortex, NVIDIA, etc.).
Experience in PCB design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
Understanding of noise reduction, EMI/EMC principles, and signal integrity.
Experience with lab instruments (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.).
Experience with firmware development in Python for sensor interfacing and testing.
