WHO WE NEED

opportunity for you at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). As the Assistant Manager
of Retail, In-Store Service, you will be pivotal in the ROM Retail management
team. Reporting to the Manager of Hospitality & Retail Service Operations, you
will serve as the on-site in-store supervisor, overseeing outstanding customer
sales and service delivery. You will have the opportunity to strategically
contribute to the overall operations of the store, acting as a liaison with
various departments within the museum.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Support the Senior Assistant Retail Store Manager in driving store
performance by enhancing customer satisfaction, increasing sales, and
delivering an exceptional ROM shopping experience.
- Supervise daily store operations, including openings, closings, retail
transactions, and cash handling.
- Collaborate with the Manager to plan staff schedules, ensuring efficient
coverage and smooth store flow.
- Lead the in-store team to uphold excellent merchandising, maintain product
displays, and ensure a clean, organized, and visually engaging retail
environment.
- Provide exceptional visitor engagement by sharing product knowledge,
promoting memberships, and representing the ROM brand through outstanding
service.
- Manage e-commerce operations, including online sales, order fulfillment, and
coordination with the shipping department.
- Monitor online sales performance, product availability, and order processing
to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock reception, transfers, and
display preparation.
- Mentor and support new team members, fostering a culture of collaboration,
learning, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to strengthen sales,
customer service, and product knowledge.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Secondary School Diploma required; additional certification in retail,
hospitality, tourism, or customer service is an asset.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience in retail, hospitality,
tourism, or another customer-focused environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage
visitors and represent the ROM brand with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Proven ability to manage busy environments and handle inquiries or complaints
with tact and diplomacy.
- Experience supporting stockroom operations, visual merchandising, and
maintaining attractive in-store displays.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and
support team members.
- Proficiency in English required; additional language skills—especially
French—are considered an asset.
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak
museum periods, with a willingness to attend occasional meetings outside
standard operating hours.
SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- START DATE: December 2025

- HOURLY RATE: $26.00
- SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
- PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Six (6) months

- Initial conversation: A 30-minute virtual conversation** with a Recruiter to

- First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring
Manager and a member of the HR team. This in-depth interview will focus on
your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.
- Second interview: A 1-hour in-person meeting with the Hiring Manager and
relevant team members. You may be asked to present a pre-assigned case study
and discuss scenarios relevant to your role.
The above-listed process may change or vary based on the nature and scope of the
position.
All virtual conversations and interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams
and may be recorded.
