We’re looking for an Equipment Operator/Lead Hand to join our Calgary Distribution Centre team. The successful candidate will oversee daily coaching and guidance of the transload employees while promoting safe, efficient, and productive yard operations. The Calgary yard handles the transfer of liquid, bulk, and material products between rail and truck equipment.
The Shift: Monday – Friday Day Shift 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
The position:
- Coaching and directing all yard operations staff with a Safety 1st approach, providing support for difficult or new tasks, cross training staff, etc.
- Lead by example, Ensuring the standard operating procedures and best practices are being followed with at all times.
- Backup for preparing shift assignments.
- Coordinating and updating dispatch and office staff of work in progress and completing necessary documents.
- Providing input and ideas, as part of a team and with the Manager, Transload Operations
- Liaise with drivers and contractors on site to aid and respond to questions regarding trailers, dunnage, & load securement.
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience operating loaders
- Safety-first approach
- Proven leadership experience
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work (no public transportation available)
- Good physical condition (able to lift 50lbs)
- Strong work ethic and reliability to attend all shifts on time
- Willingness to work overtime
- As this is a safety-sensitive position, candidates will be required to comply with our Controlled Substances policy (pre-employment/post-incident drug test is required)
