Join Our Team as an Electrician / Instrumentation Technician!

We're seeking a skilled Electrician / Instrumentation Technician to join our Building Automation and Controls group. In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting our team by providing electrical installation and troubleshooting on Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems within civic facilities.

Uses a city wide building automation network to diagnose anomalies within building mechanical and electrical components
Performs system maintenance, corrective and demand work activities
Install control panels where expansion of systems is required, including necessary electrical wiring and connections as well as any associated programming
Troubleshoot, diagnose, verify and repair diverse sensors used in various applications.
Identifies building components that are not functioning as designed and initiates remedial actions to rectify
Work in a team environment to complete end to end point verification on digital control systems identifying anomalies
Prevent, correct and demand work on pneumatic HVAC and pool control systems
Attends safety and organizational training and meetings
Maintains records of work performed including updating work order and notification status’ and notes
Perform other related duties as required
Journeyperson Electrician Certificate, valid in Alberta
Journeyperson Instrument and Controls Technician Certificate, valid in Alberta
Persons holding either trade tickets who are registered as apprentices in the other will be considered
Completion of Grade 12, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining and installing direct digital control systems on HVAC and other facility mechanical and electrical systems
Experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical construction equipment is an asset
Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, Electrical Protection Act of Alberta, and applicable City bylaws and safety standards
Knowledge of manufacturers and government standards applicable to work tasks
Ability to prepare and interpret electrical and wiring layout diagrams
Ability to estimate the quantity, type, and cost of materials required for specific projects
Ability to develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules, and coordinate the work of electrical/instrument mechanics and with other trades
Good communication skills, including the ability to work with internal staff and external contractors
Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot emergency and scheduled repairs
Ability to use, clean, modify, and repair a variety of test equipment, small electrical tools, and equipment
Ability to perform light to moderate manual labour in various weather and environmental conditions including in close quarters and at heights
PPE
Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position
Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is a requirement for this position
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

$51.781(Hourly); $108,118.730 (Annually) During the probation period
