The Senior Legal Counsel will leverage their expertise to serve as a key business partner and legal advisor to internal clients within HOOPP’s operational divisions, playing an integral role on the Corporate & Governance legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for supporting and advising relevant areas of HOOPP’s operations by providing timely, high quality, business-focused and value-added strategic legal advice, and related support, with respect to a wide range of operational and corporate legal matters and will identify and manage operational and corporate governance-related legal risk based on HOOPP's risk tolerance. What you will do: The Senior Legal Counsel will be primarily responsible for providing subject matter expertise and strategic legal advice and related support to the Corporate & Governance legal team and other areas of HOOPP’s operations, which will be driven by the business needs and strategic objectives of HOOPP. Such duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following: Working directly, and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with business partners, and members of LSG Ensuring the integration of HOOPP’s mission and values, service principles, quality assurance, and compliance with best practices into the work of LSG Providing legal advice and related support to business partners on a broad range of operational and corporate legal matters and related documentation, including, but not limited to, corporate contracts, procurement, corporate governance, pension law, advocacy and lobbying and policy development and implementation. Developing and maintaining precedents and resources to reflect relevant changes and best practices Engaging and coordinating the work of external legal counsel to resolve legal issues in a manner that aligns with HOOPP’s fiduciary duties, policies, and procedures, as well as ensuring such external legal services are provided in an effective and cost-efficient manner Staying abreast of emerging legal issues relevant to HOOPP’s operations, business needs, and strategic objectives Monitoring and maintaining knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and common law, and advising business partners of relevant changes Providing ongoing education and training to business partners on relevant legal topics and best practices Fostering a culture of service excellence to achieve results and contribute to a healthy, rewarding, and collaborative team environment, where personal and team accountability are essential Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time-to-time What you bring: Law Degree from an accredited law school (J.D or LL.B.)
