Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with 5 years of hands-on experience to join our finance team. This is a "doer" role, perfect for an individual who thrives on executing the full accounting cycle and managing day-to-day financial operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be a critical player in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Crucially, the ideal candidate must have deep, demonstrable proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) with payroll function, as it is the core of our financial system.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full-cycle accounting process, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations.
Execute daily accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cashflow functions with precision and timeliness.
Prepare and file HST, EHT, and payroll remittances accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met (with CFO oversight).
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and supporting reports for management review.
Assist the CFO with budget preparation, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows, embracing technology and automation to enhance efficiency.
Work with the CFO, providing necessary documentation and support for external auditors and tax authorities,
Required Skills & Experience: General Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a hands-on role.
Demonstrable experience in:
Full-cycle accounting and leading the month-end close process.
Hands-on management of AP, AR, Payroll, and cashflow processes.
Financial statement preparation and analysis.
Filing of HST, EHT, and payroll remittances returns on a timely basis.
Process improvement and technology adoption (e.g., QuickBooks, Expensify; experience with tools like Scoro is an asset).
Experience with professional services / project-based businesses is an asset but not required.
Technical Acumen
Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) with payroll function is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP for Private Enterprises).
High proficiency in MS Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
Familiarity with expense management systems and payroll / HRIS integration.
Analytical & Reporting Skills
Ability to assist the business with developing meaningful reporting dashboards and conducting variance and scenario analysis.
Excellent reconciliation and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to trace and resolve discrepancies.
Process & Controls Orientation
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all work.
Experience in documenting financial policies and procedures.
Communication & Collaboration
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex finance concepts to non-finance audiences.
A collaborative team player able to work effectively with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders.

Proactive in streamlining workflows and embracing automation to improve efficiency.
High degree of discretion, integrity, and trustworthiness in handling confidential financial information.
