Join our dynamic team as a Project Estimator in Saint John, NB! In this role, you’ll take ownership of cost estimation for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. You’ll analyze plans and specifications, determine materials, labor, and timelines, and collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to deliver estimates that align with project goals and budgets.
As a Project Estimator, you will:
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, bids, and proposals by analyzing project plans and conducting quantity take-offs.
Research supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive solutions.
Maintain cost databases and stay current with market trends.
Collaborate with clients and project teams to clarify scope and recommend cost-saving strategies.
Manage tendering, contract awards, and change orders while ensuring compliance.
Monitor budgets and financial performance, identifying and mitigating cost risks.
Maintain accurate documentation and support negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
Required Competencies:
Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in construction estimating.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, labor costs, and local codes.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Highly organized with time management skills; thrives in fast-paced environments.
