Program Summary:
The Clinical Systems and Informatics (CSI) team at Trillium Health Partners (THP) is responsible for implementing Epic as the hospital’s integrated Hospital Information System (HIS), which was launched in October 2020. The program aims to integrate clinical practice, education, technology, information management, and data to establish a comprehensive, evidence-based hospital information system with standardized tools and processes, supporting THP's healthcare objectives.
The CSI team utilizes clinical informatics principles to guide the strategy, design, build, training, and implementation of HIS. Team members include Application Analysts, Clinical Informaticians, Trainers, Business Intelligence Analysts, and project staff who collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical personnel. Located within the Quality, Risk, and Practice Division, the CSI team addresses the connection between technology and process using the Quintuple AIM framework, emphasizing outcomes related to systems, users, and patients while considering resource constraints.
The Position:
This role reports to the Training Manager of the Clinical Systems and Informatics (CSI) team and will work closely with other Managers within the CSI portfolio; including the Regional Digital Programs Manager as well as collaborate with various stakeholders to build a better system through work in implementation, knowledge exchange, evaluation, information management, health equity, and engagement.
Here’s what you will get to do:
Utilizing expertise in adult education and established best practices, the Education Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, communicating, and delivering curriculum, lesson plans, and supporting training materials produced by the department to leaders and end users of Epic and similar software platforms. The Education Specialist reviews and revises training materials and classroom content to ensure alignment with system or workflow changes. Additionally, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality, equitable, and interactive training across various formats, including large or small group sessions, individual instruction, and huddles. The specialist also supports organizational initiatives such as system upgrades, THRIVE program implementation, and other educational operational requirements.
This position may also entail leading, guiding, and coordinating the management of work streams (projects) with medium complexity, as well as assisting the CSI Training Manager in coordinating more complex projects. The Education Specialist contributes to project planning, management, execution, and evaluation to drive successful outcomes across diverse work streams within the CSI team as needed.
Here’s what you need to have:
College Diploma or equivalent in clinical discipline, health informatics, adult education, organizational development, or related field, along with relevant work experience.
Prior experience with electronic health systems, eReferral platforms, and central intake processes is preferred.
Solid understanding of adult learning principles, theories, and strategies to support the design and facilitation of effective learning programs.
Skilled in creating e-learning modules, simulations, and utilizing diverse teaching methodologies.
Preferred: experience delivering presentations on technical topics to varied audiences.
Superior written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation capabilities.
Proficient in computer use and able to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, engage adult learners, and foster positive learning outcomes.
Effective liaison skills with multiple stakeholders in fast-paced and uncertain environments.
Proven multitasking and prioritization abilities with consistent delivery against deadlines.
Prior experience in dynamic, results-driven work settings.
Experience in healthcare environments and a working knowledge of clinical workflows and terminology are considered assets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); Visio knowledge is an asset.
Previous Epic Training experience is preferred.
Learning Management System expertise is advantageous.
Flexibility to work all required shifts.
Location:
This role will be a combination of remote and on-site work.
You must be able to attend work at any THP hospital sites (i.e Mississauga Hospital, Credit Valley Hospital, Watline, RCC, Queensway Health Centre, etc.)
Hours of Work:
Scheduled remote and onsite work hours will be determined by the training schedule.
Onsite training hours may mean varied hours of work each day between 6am and 11pm, Sunday to Saturday
Remote hours will be regular business time Monday to Friday based on Training Schedule
