Job Description
The CIMA+ offices in Western Canada are in the middle of a large growth trajectory. This means new, exciting complex projects that you will have the ability to shape and be a part of. We are actively looking for people who want to develop their skillsets, take on new challenges, and advance their careers within the organization.
As a Engineer-In-Training (EIT), you will have the possibility to participate in the design of low level distribution designs, high-level large-scale electrical energy projects, and everything in between. You will evolve in a multidisciplinary environment and develop skills by collaborating with experienced professionals, particularly on distribution, substation, hydroelectric power stations, and renewable energy projects with numerous clients across Canada.
This is mainly an office role that is based out of our office in Vancouver.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop detailed design deliverables for utility distribution systems including construction drawings for overhead and underground primary and secondary installations with 2D software (AutoCAD)
Collaborate with members of the engineering team as well as project managers from other disciplines
Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition, and prepare site survey reports
Ensure design work conforms to all applicable national codes and client standards
Utilize client based Geographic Information Systems and other records for data collection during the design process; Produce bill of material and enter material acquisition requests
Coordinate with third party utility companies, all levels of government agencies, other companies, and institutions
Prepare technical input for reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules, and cost estimates
Assist intermediate and senior staff
Project schedule management and tracking with regular reporting to the CIMA+ project manager for project status
Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks based on project requirements and other job functions as assigned
Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications provided
Qualifications
University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Structural Engineering
Registered (or eligible to register as) member of a EGBC
Experience using AutoCAD software is an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required
Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills
Capability to work independently and in a team
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure
Attention to detail, eager to learn, and self-motivated
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Valid BC Class 5 driving license, or equivalent to obtain the BC license is required
The expected salary for this position ranges between $70,000 and $85,000 is based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills, and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
