The Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta is a major academic and clinical arm dedicated to advancing child health through a three-fold mission: providing state-of-the-art clinical care for infants, children and youth (in partnership with the Stollery Children’s Hospital and regional services), educating the next generation of physicians, specialists and researchers, and conducting innovative research that drives improvements in pediatric medicine.
Position Summary:
Dr. Andrea Haqq is recruiting a full-time Research Coordinator to support the program’s research activities. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating participant recruitment, data collection, analysis, literature reviews, peer engagement, and reporting. They will collaborate closely with the project team, partners, and service providers to prepare research proposals, ethics submissions, community reports, scientific publications, and other dissemination materials. The Research Coordinator will play a key role in providing day-to-day oversight for activities done by graduate students involved in the research program, ensuring high-quality training and development. The position also involves preparing biospecimen collection and processing protocols and overseeing the processing and management of biospecimens according to established protocols and ensuring quality control throughout all stages. The successful candidate will support the monitoring and implementation of clinical trials, including protocol adherence, regulatory compliance, and coordination with clinical and research staff.
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative research skills with human populations, experience with pediatric populations, and the ability to work independently with precision and accountability. Critical to this role is the ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation in a timely manner, ensuring that research timelines, regulatory requirements, and project milestones are consistently met without delay.
