With the exception of thermal spray application, employees working in this job classification are required to be apprentice/certified journeyperson welders. Job Description: Repair worn parts and welding stock material to bring back parts to specifications Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications Fit sub-assemblies and assemblies together and prepare for welding Lay out, cut and form metal to specifications Fully Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment Able to operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment Operate brazing and soldering equipment Qualifications: Welding Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C Previous on-the-job training such as carbon arc gouging , Tig ,SMAW ,GMAW and FCAW Previous experience with Heavy Equipment repairs an asset You are able to work indoors with noise, vibrations and other hazards that are common to the job You are able to work in uncomfortable or unusual positions at times Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures Note: This posting is for a static weekend shift scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 12 hours per day Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement Applicants must apply with either an updated Professional Profile on Workday or attached resume to be considered Will require successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, a criminal background check, and a medical assessment Hourly Rate: $51.50 – 54.59 / Hour Union Membership: This is a unionized position.
