The Basics
Location: Northgate, SK
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Days/Hours: This job will be primarily day shift, but you will have Team Members working at various hours throughout the day for whom you will be responsible. You can expect to work off hours periodically, including weekends.

What you’ll be doing:
As an Assistant Superintendent you are responsible for managing a subset of the rail, maintenance, and supply chain services (SCS) teams. The goal of this position is to ensure the facility runs effectively and efficiently while meeting all legal expectations and actively supporting all corporate policies. You will provide leadership to your team and the site, play a leadership role in managing risk, and will work to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace.
Responsibilities
Leadership
Actively participate on the Northgate Leadership Team.
Work with others on the Northgate Leadership Team in prioritizing tasks and ensuring proper allocation of resources for efficient operations.
Hire, coach, develop, mentor, and manage performance of direct reports.
Collaborate with Ceres facilities and like industries to ensure best practices for industry standards.
Risk Management
Create and promote a culture of safety behaviors.
Actively participate in the development and deployment of the Safety Management System.
Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct unsafe actions or conditions.
Ensure all safety training is completed and documented in a timely fashion.
Operations Management
Oversee rail movement coordination for the site.
Assist in coordinating with the BNSF Railway on local service and unit trains.
Assist in overseeing directly and indirectly, the plant mechanical, electrical, and contract technicians. Interact with contractors and sub-contractors during repair and maintenance projects.
Assist in effectively coordinating required facility or equipment downtime to minimize business interruptions.
Ensure required general maintenance-related needs are reported and items are ordered
Oversee and organize various industrial product trans loading activities.
Serve as on-site liaison for industrial product customers’ needs, including logistic scheduling & billing, and month-end accounting and invoicing.
Manage and ensure inventory is accounted for and in good condition. Complete monthly inventory reporting including book-to-physical reconciliations.
Provide input to management to ensure reliable and cost-effective alternatives are explored and evaluated.
Identify and recommend CAPEX Projects that increase operational efficiency and safety. Help execute plant capital improvement projects
Assist with annual budget preparation and monitor actual results to meet objectives.
Compliance
Ensure all key processes are well-documented, conform with best practices, and are followed by operations staff.
Work with corporate leaders to ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies as it relates to risk management and logistics.
Assist in the evaluation of practices and procedures of the facility to assess risk and adherence to the law and regulations.
Monitor compliance with policies and law by inspecting employees and operations.
Assist applicable examiners or auditors, being audit ready at all times.
Perform other duties and reporting as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications:
Required
Must have 5+ years of relevant experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or similar is preferred
Strong communication skills
Ability to prioritize with a keen sense of urgency and take appropriate action
Demonstrated expertise in handling projects and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment
Ability to unite teams, mentor and collaborate with multiple departments
Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
MS Office suite proficiency is required
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical College Certificate
Prior leadership experience
