Purpose of the role
The person in this role is responsible for maintaining and analyzing sales and inventory databases in order to support accurate planning, maximize profitability, and minimize losses. The Merchandise Allocation Analyst works closely with the Buying and Planning teams.
Key responsibilities
Prepare a weekly action plan outlining priorities for the product category and share it with the Buying and Planning departments
Carry out the full allocation cycle (1- allocation, 2- balancing, 3- stock flow) to ensure maximum productivity
Conduct and coordinate seasonal analyses, especially by region and by store, to gain detailed insights into product performance within the category
Review store classification mid-season to prepare the distribution strategy for the equivalent season the following year
Receive and track product category merchandise with the distribution center to ensure timely store deliveries
Evaluate replenishment needs based on actual sales, on a weekly basis
Manage omnichannel merchandise reserves at the distribution center to ensure continuous supply across all company channels, on time
Coordinate merchandise shipments related to promotions and window displays according to the marketing calendar
Analyze seasonal results and each promotion in the calendar to assess performance and provide recommendations
Manage core styles by setting and reviewing minimum and maximum levels each season
Review inventory levels for core styles in collaboration with Allocation, Buying, and Planning
Perform inter-store consolidations to maximize sales potential of styles
Analyze store capacity based on product category
Each season, analyze sales by size across product types to build size curve books for buying
Keep merchandise receipt tracking files up to date for the category
Help maintain administrative efficiency by ensuring all reports are properly filed and organized
Prepare materials and information for meetings or other events
Ensure strong collaboration, communication, and support with the Sales team, Distribution Center, Marketing, Planning, E-commerce, and Buying teams
Participate in the development and coordination of special projects, promotions, and store openings/closings
Visit stores and the distribution center regularly

Requirements
College diploma in a related field
3 to 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in retail is an asset
Bilingualism is essential (The person must communicate outside Quebec)
