North Central Co-op invites applications for the position of Food Store Manager to join our Food Division Team at our Stony Plain Food Store located in Stony Plain, Alberta. We are looking for an individual that has had success in leading a retail team to pursue a career with our Association!

What you’ll do:
Ensure consistent, scalable and profitable operations at the Food Store, with the goal of continually improving operations. Responsible for purchasing and marketing products and store merchandising. Manage relationships with vendors, manage expenses according to budget, increase revenue, and ensure a superior customer experience.
Oversee, plan and manage daily operations for a stand-alone food store location. Oversee the pricing and inventory management processes, implementing marketing programs and being up to date on regulations. Ensure adherence to merchandising standards, marketing efforts, housekeeping, promotions, store inspections and maintaining a professional and welcoming image within the community.
Lead a team in a positive and engaging manner. Oversee employee performance, providing mentorship, coaching and identifying areas of concern as required. Determine staffing requirements for the location; participate in the recruitment, development and offboarding of employees. Ensure compliance with all HR, Operational, Food Safety and Occupational Health and Safety policies. Train, monitor performance and consult with Human Resources regarding employee related issues.
Prepare budgets and ensure claims, invoices and all other reporting is completely in a timely, accurate and complying with company regulations. Ensure all records related to markdowns, transfers, receiving, claims, invoicing and retail price files are maintained. Ensure proper management of assets and adherence to a maintenance schedule. Maintain all equipment for the safe and efficient operation, scheduling repair as required.
Maintain positive relationships with vendors and ensure an excellent level of service for members and customers. Identify consumer trends to determine expected sales volumes for new products and support competitive pricing. Create and execute a merchandising strategy to ensure high-priority merchandise is well place. Support and lead customer loyalty and reward programs. Respond to customer concerns and complaints in a timely manner to ensure resolution. Other duties as required.

Who you are:
You have a proven career in Retail Store Operations and:
Post-secondary education is an asset
5 years of Retail Food experience
3 years of Management level experience
Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel)
Merchandising knowledge
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
