THE OPPORTUNITY:
Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for a Production Engineer based out of our Virden, MB or Calgary, AB office. The successful incumbent will be eligible to participate in Tundra’s hybrid work schedule.
This role is critical to monitoring, optimizing, and continuously improving the production of Tundra’s assets. The Production Engineer collaborates across multiple teams to plan and design new wells, forecast production, explain variances, plan facilities and pipelines, and repair wells when necessary - all while ensuring technical accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Production Engineering, Tundra West
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Monitor and optimize production performance against budget and targets for both existing and new wells.
- Collaborate with Workovers and Completions teams to design and implement artificial lift systems.
- Support execution of workover programs, including economic analysis and operational planning.
- Research and apply emerging technologies to enhance artificial lift and production optimization.
- Assist in development of completion programs for new wells and annual development plans.
- Monitor gathering system pressures and fluid processing capabilities to identify constraints.
- Optimize waterflood performance and execute workovers to convert wells to injectors.
- Understand and help manage operating cost drivers.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Actively promote and participate in company safety policies and initiatives.
- Monthly travel to Virden, MB office is expected.
- Perform other related duties as required.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Engineering Degree and P.Eng. designation.
- Knowledge of production engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with rod pumping artificial lift systems, well completions, workovers, and waterflood wells and facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant industry software (Omnira Mosaic, Quorum Execute AFE, Lufkin SROD).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a multi-functional, results-driven team environment.
- Effective project management and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to safe work practices and willingness to maintain safety certifications (H2S, First Aid, WHMIS).
