Description:
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of operations research. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Candidates must have earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related area, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. It is preferred that candidates have an undergraduate degree in engineering and be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer.
Applicants must provide evidence of research excellence and an established international reputation which can be demonstrated by sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals and conferences, the submitted research statement, awards and accolades, leadership in the academic community, editorships, organization of and active participation in top conferences, and other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees of high international standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
