| What we are looking for
The Cyber Analyst is a critical role that blends front-line defense with strategic insight to safeguard Payments Canada's systems and the broader Canadian payment ecosystem. This position is responsible for leading advanced cyber intrusion detection, forensic analysis, and comprehensive security assessments to proactively manage and assist with the resolution of security incidents. Furthermore, the analyst drives the future of security by conducting fundamental research and acting as a key contributor to the security aspects of the Payments Canada Technology Strategy and Architecture. This challenging role is suited for a hands-on professional ready to apply deep analytical skills and strategic vision to influence the security posture of Canada's core payment systems.
| A day in the life
Your responsibilities as the Cyber Analyst include but not are not limited to:
Security Analysis:
Performing advanced cyber intrusion detection/analysis and forensic review, recommending areas requiring further investigation and remediation.
Conducting security and risk analysis including IT vulnerability and risk assessments, penetration testing, risk control evaluation, security requirements identification, and verification.
Working closely with the IT team and management in assisting in the resolution of cyber security events and incidents and recovery.
Preparing reports and briefing notes to support the Manager, Security Monitoring and Response and Chief Information Security Officer in developing and maintaining trusted relationships with Financial Institutions, Financial Market Infrastructures, regulators, government agencies, utilities, and other relevant organizations.
Preparing reports and briefing notes for senior management and the Board on developments in Cyber management, including assessment of the relevance and implications for Payments Canada.
Working with IT and business risk owners, developing requirements, strategies, and robust frameworks to enhance the overall cyber security program.
Research:
Conducting research related to security management for the Payments Canada and its systems.
Using a variety of tools, and working in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, conducting fundamental research on Payments Canada-relevant security issues.
Acting as a key contributor to the security aspects of the Payments Canada Technology Strategy and Architecture.
| What you need to be successful
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in information security or information risk management.
Occasional overnight travel outside of the Ottawa area is required.
Ability to work outside of regular working hours based on operational requirements.
Ability to participate in on-call rotation.
Ability to work shift work as required.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a GoC Reliability Clearance and successfully complete enhanced background checks that may be carried out by Payments Canada.

| Salary range
Based on qualifications and experience: $73,500 to $98,000.
