Job Description: This position is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services for all residents, clients and staff in a holistic approach while respecting the individual faith and spiritual needs expressed by the individual in our care. The programs will generate goodwill and collaboration with other disciplines. They will also assist in coordinating and implementing programs that will promote the mission, vision and values of Providence Place, Emmanuel Health and Emmanuel Care.
The incumbent will display a visible presence at Providence Place to the residents, clients, and staff. Under supervision of the Spiritual Care Lead, they will support the programs and presentations that adhere to the expressed spiritual and emotional needs of the residents, clients, staff and their family. They will contribute in leading and supporting mission events and activities.

Specific Accountabilities
Maintain a collaborative working relationship with Providence Place partners through cooperation, participation and good working relationships based on mutual trust, respect and transparency.
Execute services of high quality for spiritual, emotional care to our residents, clients, staff and family.
Provide a ministry of presence to residents and clients and staff.
Assist in the overseeing and delivery of spiritual care services to residents and clients with spiritual care volunteers.
Assist in the planning and implementation of the events and celebrations initiated to enhance mission effectiveness.
Ability to engage in ethical reflection.
Ability to listen, display compassion and interpret the needs of the individuals they serve.
Ability to present the mission centered values of Providence Place to those they serve and their co-workers.
Education
Minimum Grade 12
Minimum of one unit Clinical Pastoral Care/CPE Unit
Some training/education in lay ministry or courses in spiritual care is preferred
Endorsement by a recognized faith group
Working conditions
Physical Effort: The job can vary but is a combination of walking, standing, sitting, assisting residents, clients, staff, and family members with issues in meetings and conferences. They will exercise a portion of time in reading and processing required materials pertaining to the department and the facility as a whole.
Physical Environment: There are times when the environment is very busy with multiple requests for consultation and assistance. There are telephone calls that may be urgent and require time on the phone. Working at a computer is a daily requirement. Daily requirements include, but not limited to, TLR object moving and pushing wheelchairs and broda chairs to services.
Sensory Attention: Involves intense attention to detail regarding requests and responses. Some requests and responses may be rapid and immediate while others have time allowances. The work involves creative problem solving, conflict resolution and flexibility on a daily basis.
Mental and Emotional Stress: There may be significant mental stress and pressure from frequent interruptions, deadlines, anxiety, tension and exposure to emotionally stressful experiences, family dynamic conflicts especially at the end of life stage with residents and their family. Spiritual needs of others are very demanding and can cause caregivers fatigue.

No guaranteed hours. Must be Available a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours per 3 week period. Must be available all shifts, short shifts, short notice calls, stats and holidays, where applicable.
