The Department of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Department of Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute University Health Network (UHN) are seeking a full-time academic physiatrist. The successful candidate will be an academic clinician who can demonstrate scholarly achievement and clinical excellence. The successful applicant must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and will be expected to work as outlined in the academic position description of Clinician Investigator, Clinician in Quality and Innovation or Clinician Teacher. Effective start date is April 1, 2026, or as soon as possible.
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate clinician who would like to grow with our program with a strong commitment to hand rehabilitation, sports and spine medicine, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, and fluoroscopic/ultrasound-guided procedures. Additionally, focused capabilities in the hand, wrist, and electrodiagnostic medicine is an important asset for this role. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of integrated models of care across acute, outpatient, and interdisciplinary rehabilitation settings, with opportunities to collaborate across UHN sites such as Toronto Rehab, Toronto Western Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital.
Key clinical responsibilities include providing comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation care for patients with spine, sports, hand, and musculoskeletal injuries. The role also involves performing ultrasound- and fluoroscopic-guided procedures, conducting electrodiagnostic assessments, and leading educational and research initiatives in ultrasound, regenerative medicine, and interventional physiatry.
The successful candidates must hold an MD degree. The successful candidates must have, or be eligible for, both Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification and fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate should have completed or be prepared to complete advanced training with Masters or equivalent in the areas of innovation, quality improvement, research or teaching, or be willing to complete the aforementioned training. Advanced Fellowship training in interventional pain management, Sports and Spine Medicine is considered an important preparation for this role.
Estimated remuneration includes base support from the Alternative Funding Program plus fee-for-clinical-service income, and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until December 29, 2025, or until position is filled.
