Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Systemic Therapy, the Health Care Aide functions as a member of the Chemotherapy Suite Team, supporting health care through equipment and supply management, maintenance of a clean, safe environment, and participation in selected patient care activities. The Health Care Aide functions according to the job description for Health Care Aides.
- Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide Certificate, or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses of an accredited BScN program, or successful completion of semester 2 courses of a Practical Nursing program.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role within a healthcare environment
- Previous outpatient clinic experience
- Experience maintaining and stocking materials and supplies
- Knowledge and skill in using computers (Including Meditech and Microsoft Office)
- Demonstrated competency in applying the principles of Universal Precautions and WHMIS to the work setting
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
- Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position
- Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
- Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
- Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
- Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods, to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and to bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
- Demonstrated ability to read and write English proficiently
