Position Overview:
This position is based at ADL’s cheese plant in Summerside, where our team transforms 100% PEI milk into trusted, high-quality cheese products. As part of the production crew, you’ll support ADL’s cheese packaging operations by preparing work areas, packaging products accurately, and maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and product quality. The role also requires flexibility to work day or night shifts based on production needs.
Location: ADL Water St., 79 Water St., Summerside, PE
Work Environment and Schedule:
- Hands-on role in a food production environment where safety, cleanliness, and consistency are essential
- Work areas may be warm, humid, noisy, or involve exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, and moving equipment
- Tasks may include lifting, standing for long periods, working on wet floors, handling materials, or cleaning equipment
- Shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours and may be scheduled during the day or night, including weekends and holidays, based on production requirements. Department assignments and responsibilities may rotate
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the work area, tools, and equipment for daily packaging operations.
- Package, weigh, label, and box cheese products according to production requirements.
- Operate packaging equipment such as vacuum machines, printers, shrink tunnels, scales, and metal detectors.
- Handle materials and complete tasks that require accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Maintain food safety and quality through proper sanitation, hygiene, and documentation.
- Follow safety procedures at all times and help keep the work area clean and organized.
- Complete end-of-shift cleaning, equipment sanitation, and preparation for the next team.
- Support smooth production flow by communicating clearly, staying alert to issues, and working collaboratively.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:
- Experience in food production, manufacturing, or sanitation is an asset.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Understanding of basic food safety expectations; familiarity with HACCP principles is considered an asset.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with team members and supervisors to support safe operations, proper material handling, and adherence to food safety protocols
- Able to lift and handle light to moderate materials (10–30 lbs) safely throughout the shift.
- Follows procedures exactly as required — every task performed with care, accuracy, and a clear understanding of its impact on product quality and team safety
- Reliable and accountable — consistently present, properly prepared, and focused throughout the shift.
- Adaptable across production areas — able to adjust to changing priorities and support different tasks when required.
- Keeps the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are handled properly.
