The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) Medical Secretary will provide administrative support for laboratory operations and professional staff. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to: coordination of confidential medical reports, correspondence; participation in development of standard work, assist in the preparation of statistics, research papers for publication; prepare committee material, agenda development and taking minutes; administer and maintain financial records including travel expenses, professional staff educational trust fund, laboratory operations purchase orders and accounts receivable reconciliation; maintain a variety of databases; enter laboratory specimen information into Meditech database.
- Graduate of Community College Medical Secretarial program or equivalent
- Medical Terminology relating to Laboratory Medicine
- Demonstrated proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills in word processing, spread sheets and database systems, Meditech, Excel, Work, Windows 98, Outlook 2000
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities
- Experience within a Laboratory environment a strong asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of Peoplesoft System, and Internet design and maintenance, a strong asset
