We invite online applications from our sworn officers for one (1) position as a Forensic Identification Investigator. The effective transfer date is to be determined. The candidate will be required to successfully complete the Forensic Identification Officer Course scheduled to start February 26, 2026.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the NCO i/c the Forensic Identification Section, the incumbent will examine crime scene articles and collect fingerprints and other physical evidence. Photograph and record crime scenes, evidence, and victim injuries in a medical/legal context. Make comparisons and identification of fingerprint impressions and other physical evidence.
Desirable attributes for this position are excellent spatial relationship skills, objectivity, deductive reasoning and attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment with minimum supervision.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Examine crime scene articles and collect fingerprints and other physical evidence.
Photograph crime scenes, evidence, and victim injuries.
Collect DNA samples from convicted offenders.
Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, Policy and Procedures, and the Adequacy Standards Regulation as it pertains to duties performed.
Conduct in-service and other training lectures.
Participate in various committees as required.
Carry out duties in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, and other lawful assignments.
Be accountable to supervision.
Information management – prepare/dictate reports, maintain with accurate up to date notes,
Effectively handle and analyze data/information with internal/external partners.
Take responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of assigned vehicle(s), uniform and personal equipment.
Perform such other duties as are lawfully assigned.

Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of forensic identification principles and techniques.
Thorough understanding of pertinent legislation and all related policies and procedures.
Thorough understanding and good working knowledge of the organizational structure, Routine Orders, Policy and Procedures, and Adequacy Standards as it pertains to duties performed.
Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated court presentation skills,
Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills,
Strong written and verbal communication skills,
Proficiency in electronics, photography, videography, and Live Scan
Computer literate in C.A.D., RMS, Niche, Presentations, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, electronic notebooks
Abilities

Ability to be creative in problem-solving; a solution-oriented individual.
Ability to observe, retain and prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and operate general office equipment.

Ability to sometimes work in disagreeable conditions (i.e.: guarding and transporting prisoners)
Ability to multi-task and produce work under strict and definitive deadlines.
Proven ability to work productively without supervision.
