The Opportunity:
BluMetric is seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-oriented intermediate Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team at our Ottawa Office. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact by ensuring accurate and timely financial operations while contributing to the overall success of the company. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work independently while supporting broader business objectives. You will play a key role in month end close, financial reporting and compliance. This is an existing vacancy within the organization.
Job responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and dashboards for Executive team.
Perform variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare or review monthly journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.
Understand and assist with the review of subledger accounting entries by working closely with AR, AP, and the Project Accounting team.
Manage transactions related to joint venture accounting including:
Ensuring agreements are in place and properly setup in the system
Coordinating with Project Accountants and Project Managers for accurate financial information
Assist in the preparation of quarterly published financial statement and MD&A.
Participate in the development of fiscal year budgets and forecasts to meet business goals.
Participate in cross training with the payroll department to enhance process coverage and ensure continuity of payroll functions.
Ensure compliance with IFRS guidance, company accounting policies, and internal control procedures.
Support management in completing financial reports, special projects, and analyses.
Proactively look for innovative processes & reporting improvements.
Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 7 years combined experience in full cycle accounting and financial reporting/analysis.
Superior knowledge of Excel and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous improvements.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Demonstrated flexibility, strong commitment to meeting deadlines, and effective decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization.
Self-motivator with ability to work independently.
