Job Description Overview Reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling Design Engineering in Retube, Inspection and Maintenance Systems, the Senior Tooling Engineer would support multiple Refurbishment projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems. Your role Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives requiring investigation of a limited number of variables. Assignments normally include system and equipment design and development, design modification, investigation of design difficulties, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, cost estimating and preparation of reports, review of vendor’s documentation, investigation of manufacturing and installation difficulties. May be assigned project engineering responsibilities on a technical or commercial endeavour of moderate scope. Required to travel to vendor facilities to support tooling system testing, inspection, and acceptance activities as part of project execution. Participates in the preparation and/or review of commercial and internal proposals. Work is limited in scope and generally related to one field or discipline of engineering, although a knowledge of related fields of engineering and an appreciation of the impact of the work on other areas may be required. Completed work is generally accepted as technically accurate and in compliance with policies and procedures and is reviewed for soundness of judgement and feasibility. Work objectives are specific, and supervision is usually general; the details of the work are not normally closely supervised but this may vary with the assignment. Mentors staff to maintain and improve performance and capabilities including technical guidance to lower PG scale employees assigned on common/other projects. Normally required to plan, schedule and manage own time, including taking into account the plans of others. Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up-to-date, and required training and qualifications are completed/updated on time. May be required to lead a team of staff for delivery of assigned scope. Reviews technical documents prepared by the designated reporting staff, as applicable. Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Ensures that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures. Required to interface with clients for successfully delivery of engineering products in accordance with customer specifications and requirements, as applicable. About you Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) with 5-8 years of practical experience. Professional Engineer designation from PEO. Experience of leading a technical team would be an asset. Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada would be an asset. Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated. Demonstrated ability to support complex and parallel technical projects. Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills. Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet project needs.
