Combustion Aerothermal Systems is one of the Combustion module departments within the Turbomachinery organization. The department is responsible for design and validation of the combustion section of turbofan, turboprop, and turboshaft engines. The aerothermal design process uses various numerical tools, including CFD simulations, with validation testing in rigs and engines. This internship will focus on combustor pressure drop survey to support on-going experimental investigations to calibrate the engine performance model. What will your day-to-day look like? The Combustion Aero/Thermal Analyst intern will have the following key responsibilities: Prepare combustion chamber geometry using ANSYS CAD tools Mesh geometry using ANSYS meshing tools Perform combustion CFD simulations in ANSYS Fluent with primary focus on the combustor aerodynamics Review combustor pressure drop measurement data to understand measured variables and measurement locations Calibrate CFD model with test data and use the calibrated CFD model to perform a pressure drop survey Summarize and present findings Document the findings in a report What do you need to be successful? Be eligible to work in Canada Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired Pursuing a Master or PhD degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or Physics Engineering Good oral and written communication skills in English (spoken/written). French is an asset. Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
