Intern, Engineering Analyst (Technology)
This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026.
Job Summary
The Intern, Engineering Analyst (Technology) will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the both the field of railway engineering and the technology supporting the daily tasks. The intern will support the manager in developing and implementing system requirements, supporting end users, and defining procedures that ensure optimal performance and compliance of CN's engineering technology. The intern will also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to gain a rounded experience of railway engineering.
Major Responsibilities
Participate in the agile project management delivery for new requirements of the major engineering systems
Define and test requirements identified by the business to facilitate capital planning decisions
Prepare reports and presentations aimed to increase the usability of the system and help management make sound business decisions
Participate in field inspections and audits of track infrastructure to learn about the potential rail conditions and gain practical experience
Support the manager in conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions for rail failures and incidents
Participate in cross-functional meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and feedback
Conduct trend analysis on engineering data
Requirements
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Collaborates with others and shares information
Applies critical thinking
Identifies potential safety and security risks
Demonstrates active listening
Ability to work occasionally in the evening
Valid Driver’s Licence
Education
Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Construction Management, Computer Science, Business or Information Technology
