Squadron Energy is seeking a talented Energy Market Analyst to join our Gas Portfolio, Customer and Energy Markets team. Reporting to the Head of Gas Portfolio, you’ll play a vital role in optimizing the performance and value of our natural gas and renewable energy portfolio—including the Port Kembla Energy Terminal, wind, solar, and storage assets. Key Responsibilities Analyse and monitor operational and financial performance of natural gas assets, supply, transport, storage, and customer arrangements Prepare financial models, forecasts, and reports for projects and the overall portfolio Undertake customer load analysis and support pricing structure development Assist in developing new product offerings and refining asset strategies Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess market trends, technology, and regulatory changes Update market forecasts and provide insights on market behaviour Prepare and present technology review reports (e.g., long-duration energy storage) Support completion of daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports Interface with other business units for data and forecasts, including ESG, billing, and market risk information General Responsibilities Comply with all workplace health, safety, and environmental obligations Ensure documentation is stored in the Squadron Energy document management system Works independently with strong initiative, while demonstrating self-awareness and a willingness to seek guidance when faced with uncertainty Escalate/report issues and risks to management promptly Adhere to purchasing and expenditure procedures in line with approved budgets Maintain professional relationships with all project stakeholders Uphold Squadron Energy’s employee policies and standards Skills & Experience 3+ years’ experience in the Australian Energy or Oil & Gas industry or relevant consulting sector Sound knowledge of the energy industry, domestic gas market, LNG pricing, and the Australian Electricity Market (NEM) Ability to create models for market and operational outcomes, including gas-powered generation and electricity market interactions Experience with gas market and NEM systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Advanced Excel and database skills (SQL, APIs); Python experience or willingness to learn is highly regarded Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, or Finance Ready to make an impact in Australia’s energy future?
