We are seeking a skilled Desktop System Admin to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing technical support and maintenance for computer systems, ensuring the smooth operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals across our organization. This role requires proficiency in Active Directory management, experience with software deployment using SCCM/MECM, strong Tier 2 Troubleshooting skills and proficient imaging of Windows operating systems. The position is primarily located at the Seaspan Victoria Shipyard. The Desktop System Admin will also be responsible for deploying hardware including computers and peripherals at various office locations and industrial environments. For this reason, preference for a candidate with a driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What You’ll Do
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Manage and maintain Active Directory users and computers, ensuring proper configurations and permissions.
Deploy software packages and updates using SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager).
Image and configure Windows operating systems in a predominantly Dell hardware ecosystem.
Set up computer hardware at desks, including monitors, docking stations, printers, and other peripherals.
Setup and support a growing base of Azure Virtual Desktop machines.
Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
Perform maintenance and repair damaged or defective hardware as needed.
Document technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, particularly in an industrial setting.
Provide training and guidance to end-users on the use of desktop hardware and software.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar preferred
Proven experience as a Desktop Engineer or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, including user management and group policies.
Proficiency in troubleshooting desktop hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
Experience with software deployment tools, preferably SCCM/MECM.
Solid understanding of Windows operating systems and imaging techniques.
Setup and deploy computer hardware components such as monitors, docking stations, printers and other peripherals.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in an industrial environment, handling unique challenges and requirements.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and work under desks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
Familiarity with ITIL framework or other IT service management practices.
Experience using Service Now platform.
Experience with creating and deploying Powershell scripts via SCCM/MECM
Experience with asset management and inventory tracking software.
Knowledge of remote desktop support tools like Splashtop. - DESIRED
Azure AVD certification or equivalent experience.
Dell Certified Technician or similar certification.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
