HDR is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Transportation – Construction Services team in the Greater Toronto area to work on transit and highway infrastructure construction projects. Reporting to the group lead, the position will be responsible for coordinating and inspecting of onsite construction and providing construction administration.
In the role of Construction Inspector, we'll count on you to:
Provide inspection and oversight on bridge, roadway and highway, and transit construction projects
Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records
Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities
Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment
Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements
Monitoring construction work is in accordance to contract documents and specifications
Monitoring the contractor’s compliance to health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation
As part of an inspection team, supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works
Perform duties within a construction field office environment that include assisting in preparation of construction payment certificates, collecting and summarizing material weight tickets, take meeting minutes, and assistance with development of site instructions
Liaise with client representatives, as required
Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts
Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Construction Management or Civil Engineering and/or relevant experience
Ability to register with OACETT as a Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji) designation, and/or with PEO
0-3 years experience with transportation engineering or construction projects
Familiarity with CMS with Aurigo, and or Kahua is preferred
Able to work weekends and nights, as needed
Excellent oral communication, and problem solving skills
Valid Ontario driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
