Position Title: Product Manager, Individual Insurance
Reports To: Director, Insurance Solutions
Department: Individual Insurance
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you will be doing:
Lead product strategy: Spot market gaps, innovate features (like dividends and cash values), and launch new products or enhancements that boost growth and client satisfaction – fully leveraging our mutual advantage;
Own the full lifecycle: Manage projects from ideation and business cases to launch and post-launch tweaks, using stage-gate processes to keep everything on track;
Dive into analysis: Monitor competitors, sales data, trends, and financials. Build rock-solid business cases with market research and benchmarking;
Be the SME: Guide teams on product design, policy contracts, risk, and compliance. Train juniors and explain complex ideas in plain language;
Collaborate widely: Work with sales managers, vendors, regional teams, and stakeholders to align on goals – no direct reports needed, just influence and results;
Create and present: Develop advisor training, marketing materials, and killer presentations (PowerPoint pros welcome) to drive sales and excitement;
Track success: Measure in-force performance (retention, client engagement) and new business wins, then recommend smart adjustments.
What you will bring:
7+ years in Canadian life insurance, with 3+ in product management – especially participating products;
Proven wins: Led product launches, managed portfolios, built business cases, and handled vendors/contracts in a regulated world;
Communication star: Turn technical talk into advisor-friendly stories. Nail presentations and stakeholder buy-in;
Project professional: Balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution; high agency to deliver and iterate;
Team player: Build relationships, influence without authority, and thrive in cross-functional teams;
Analytical powerhouse: Intermediate level Excel for data analysis and reporting; strong logic to connect dots; working knowledge and integration of Gen AI tools.
