The Engineering Student Recruitment & Outreach Office (ESROO) promotes interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and is the first point of contact for students and their families interested in pursuing an education at Canada’s top engineering school and one of the best in the world. Our team designs and delivers innovative pre-university outreach programs offered by the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering (FASE) and builds awareness of the different areas of engineering and the roles they play in society. The dynamic team shares information on the faculty’s world-leading programs with students around the globe, supports prospective students and their families throughout the application and admissions cycle, and facilitates a smooth and successful transition into the Engineering program.
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Faculty Registrar, the Associate Registrar and Director, Engineering Student Recruitment and Outreach (ESRO) is responsible for the strategic directions of the faculty’s recruitment and outreach office. The Associate Registrar and Director, ESRO is a key member of the Office of the Registrar’s leadership team and exercises full managerial authority over the staff in outreach and recruitment in the areas of human resources, labour relations and financial management. Working closely and collaboratively with other key members of the faculty’s senior management team, the Associate Registrar and Director, ESRO plays a lead role in creating strategic short and long-term goals while ensuring student recruitment and outreach initiatives are well aligned with the faculty’s strategic plans as well as being effectively operationalized. The incumbent creates, builds, leads and exercises full managerial authority over a high functioning team of recruitment and outreach staff to coordinate engineering outreach and recruitment objectives and activities locally, nationally and internationally.
The incumbent assesses a variety of data and information sources as well as stakeholder relationships to ensure that student outreach and recruitment practices are effective, and resources are efficiently deployed. The Associate Registrar and Director, ESRO is responsible for establishing policies, best practices and procedures for student outreach and recruitment for the faculty.
Requirements
Education:
University degree or acceptable combination of education and experience in the areas of recruitment and/or outreach. A graduate degree is preferred. Certification in program management and/or business fundamentals is an asset.
Experience:
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive strategic university student recruitment and/or outreach experience, including experience managing a budget and allocating resources. Thorough and extensive knowledge of the educational system at all levels, including knowledge of strategic enrolment management principles. Strong understanding and knowledge of the higher education landscape; especially undergraduate study; and experience translating this knowledge into effective marketing and outreach plans. Public speaking and public relations experience.
Demonstrated people leadership and management experience in a unionized environment. Proven experience developing strategic and operational plans, preferably as they relate to student outreach or recruitment, and enrolment. Experience building collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders, internal and external.

Strong organizational, planning, time management skills and the ability to set priorities
