We are currently seeking a Carpenter to performs carpentry work by reading blueprints and assembling materials into structures. Measures, cuts, and shapes materials, estimates project requirements, and operates hand and power tools safely. Conducts inspections, maintenance, and repairs while ensuring proper care of tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches and to understand project specifications
Take measurements and calculate the sizes and amounts of materials needed for the project
Cut, shape, and smooth lumber according to measurements
Build window frames, doors, staircases, brattices, frame buildings, and other structures by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
Inspect products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed
Comply with all company and governmental safety guidelines
Estimate time, material, equipment, and supplies needed for the project
Operation of hand/power tools, and other equipment relevant to Carpentry
Capable of performing errands as assigned, carry/deliver materials
Ensure proper use and care are given to tools and equipment
Skills and Experience
Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program preferred
Journeyman certification or Red Seal endorsement highly desirable
Additional trade specific training or safety certifications is an asset
3+ years of experience in a similar role; preferably in multi-family wood frame
Skilled in rough and finish carpentry, installations, and construction techniques, with knowledge of current building codes
Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and requirements
Physical stamina and manual dexterity; able to work effectively in all weather conditions
Strong time management with ability to work independently or as part of a team
Competence with hand and power tools and measurement instruments
Strong understanding of safety policies and safe working practices
Detail oriented, accurate, and effective communicator with strong ethic
