Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid) To assist in the hardware qualification, certification, and verification activities of new or revised products and lead associated reports to customer acceptance utilizing processes based on established engineering principles to meet requirements. Key Accountabilities: Apply knowledge of railway industry (or similar) EMC and environmental standards to ensure hardware qualification, certification, and verification. Such standards include EN 50121, EN 61000, EN 50155, EN 50125-1, EN 50125-3, AREMA, MIL-STD-461, etc. Apply knowledge of grounding, shielding, surge protection, and other basic EMC concepts. Operate hardware test equipment and simulators that are deployed in the hardware qualification test process. Participate in troubleshooting activities with regards to EMC tests and provide relevant measurements to the design team through spectrum analyzers, antennas, etc. Prepare project EMC documentation including EMC Control Plans, EMC Compatibility Study, EMC Hazard Analysis, and EMC Test Report and drive them to customer acceptance. Prepare hardware environmental qualification plans per specified requirements and provide feedback on alternative approaches. Participate in the process of ISA (International Standards on Auditing) committee audit on EMC and environmental requirements. Provide guidance to subcontractors regarding specific EMC site measurements in line with customer requirements. Work with requirements management tools such as DOORs, Polarion, etc., and manage the verification process per CENELEC standards. Ensure teamwork, professionalism, and productive relations with colleagues. Assist less experienced team members as needed. Track progress on assigned tasks and ensure completion accuracy. Key Requirements: 5+ years of experience in the industry. Excellent knowledge of EMC concepts (Cabling, Grounding techniques, Surge Protection, etc.). Good knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles and circuits. Experience working with engineering tools: Multi-meter, Oscilloscope. Advanced verbal and written English communication skills for clear documentation and interaction. Ability to follow directions and work instructions, using good judgment. Effective presentation skills to evaluate pros and cons of courses of action. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of diplomas and work experience. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in the Railway Signaling industry working with international standards. Knowledge of EMC principles impacting emission and immunity performance of electronic circuits. Proficiency in EMC analysis for design changes and constructing similarity cases. Experience with devising tests to verify functionality and proactively solving issues. Operation of complex EMC measurement tools in the lab and on-site. Understanding of radio certification processes (e.g., FCC, Industry Canada, ETSI). Familiarity with CE certification and European Directives for electronic equipment. Knowledge of fire, smoke, and toxicity standards such as EN 45545 and NFPA 130. Skillsets aligned with reviewing standards, rules, and specifications and implementing necessary actions.
