We’re looking for a Backend Developer to join our GeoAnalytics team and help build, scale, and maintain our next-generation data and orchestration systems. You’ll work on infrastructure that drives our lithological prediction platform, tesselation APIs, and backend services — all designed and operated in-house. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain scalable Python backend systems and microservices for geoanalytics and machine learning workflows Develop and maintain AWS Lambda functions and containerized services on ECS/Fargate Build and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI, Flask, Django, and AWS API Gateway Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform Manage data storage and access layers, including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and S3 data lakes Collaborate with data scientists and geologists to operationalize machine learning models Participate in code reviews, improve CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, and advocate for high engineering standards What You Bring 4+ years of professional experience in backend or data engineering roles Strong experience with Python for backend development Solid understanding of AWS services, especially Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB Proficiency with Docker and container-based deployment Experience writing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and experience with Django ORM Experience developing and maintaining REST APIs Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as ETL, data lakes, and orchestration systems Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across frontend, backend, and data teams Nice to Have Experience with orchestration technologies, including container platforms (ECS, Fargate, Kubernetes) and ETL tools (Airflow, Athena, Glue) Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (CloudWatch, Sentry, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana) Exposure to machine learning operations (MLOps) and tools (SageMaker, Kubeflow, MLflow) Familiarity with AWS account, IAM permission, and cost management, as well as Azure services including Microsoft Entra ID Understanding of geoanalytics workflows and experience working with spatial datasets using PostgreSQL/PostGIS (spatial queries, indexing, GeoJSON/GeoTIFF handling) Why Join Us At ALS GeoAnalytics, you’ll work with a team of engineers, data scientists, and geologists solving real-world problems using cutting-edge technology. Our benefits includes An estimated annual salary of $100,000 to $120,000 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. Structured wage increases.
