Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chair of Biomedical Engineering, the Program Officer will play a key role in supporting departmental leadership. This interim position ensures continuity during a maternity leave period and contributes to the department’s mission of promoting research, collaboration, and innovation. The Program Officer will have the following responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities: Oversee recently launched projects which are aligned with the strategic vision of the department; maintain documentation, monitor progress, ensure follow-up, and brief the Chair and departmental staff on key issues; Promote the Department, its programs and services; design promotional materials, including enhancements and updates to the Departmental website; Generate new editions of the Departmental newsletter and ensure increased exposure on social media (e.g., LinkedIn); Provide research and grant support, including assistance with the preparation and submission of major research grant applications and funding proposals; Organize and attend departmental events and meetings; prepare content and presentations for the Chair; Lead student outreach and recruitment efforts through online marketing campaigns, networking events, career and education fairs, and coordination with student societies; Support the onboarding of new faculty recruits as directed by the Chair of the Department; Assist with any ad hoc tasks, depending on the Department’s and the Chair’s needs Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Education: University degree in a related area to Biomedical Engineering or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM); Graduate degree is an asset; Experience: Experience in a University environment or other large organization; Related experience in strategy development and implementation of academic and research programs is an asset; Knowledge and experience in organizational governance; Demonstrated experience initiating projects and/or collaborations; Skills: Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking; Must be self-motivated and sustain a high degree of initiative; Excellent project management, organizational and interpersonal skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Computer competency in Microsoft Office, social media, and web development.
