Junior Estimator - Telecommunications
Position Overview
The Junior Estimator will support the estimating team in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and proposals for projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, gathering pricing information, and assisting in developing accurate and competitive bids. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while learning from senior estimators.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects.
Review drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand scope of work.
Collect and analyze data on materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain quotations.
Support the preparation of tender submissions, bid documents, and proposals.
Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating software.
Assist in preparing budgets, progress reports, and cost tracking.
Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure estimates reflect project requirements.
Perform quantity take-offs and measurements from project drawings.
Learn and apply company standards, processes, and industry best practices in estimating.
Qualifications & Skills
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
0–2 years of experience in estimating, construction, or related field (internship or co-op experience an asset).
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating software is an asset.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
Working Conditions
Office-based role with occasional site visits.
