The Cognitive Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) is looking to fill a Research Associate - Term position immediately. The group carries out research in the area of human-automation interaction and nuclear power applications.
The Research Associate - Term will work directly under the supervision of Greg A. Jamieson of the MIE Department on a systematic review and meta-analysis. The duties will include: developing and executing the research vision with PI to achieve research goals, directing junior lab members, designing and executing systematic review and meta-analysis studies, analyzing results, preparing reports and presentations, interacting with industrial and academic partners, developing research proposals and funding applications, and authoring scientific publications and conference talks. The research associate is expected to publish both at conferences and in journals.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree, with a focus on human factors engineering
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an academic setting, working directly in the supervision of undergraduate/graduate students, and/or directing research projects
Relevant experience in the field of Human Factors
Experience in experimental design, inferential statistics, systematic review, and meta-analysis
Experience with the development of research funding proposals
Skills
Expert-level knowledge of experimental design, inferential statistics, systematic review, and meta-analysis
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
General knowledge of research trends and methodologies in human-automation interaction
Ability to identify opportunities for research and collaboration with industrial and academic partners
Comfort engaging respectfully with industrial and academic partners
Other
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
Ability to exercise tact and judgement in dealing with personnel under their supervision and community members.
Demonstrated initiative and technical ability
