Our Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for driving a culture of safety across all operations. This role will oversee the day-to-day programs in place, reduce risk, promote continuous improvement in safety performance through visible leadership and coaching. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong analytical and communication skills, capable of influencing teams and implementing effective safety programs. This position will spend roughly 35% of the time both traveling and doing field work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead driver performance management through analysis of reporting and metrics from driver profiles.
- Identify and monitor performance trends to detect high-risk areas for accidents or injuries; collaborate with terminals to implement corrective action plans.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of incident response and ensure timely completion of investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Conduct scheduled site visits to terminals, loading facilities, delivery points, and customer locations.
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings in person and online; research and develop engaging content.
- Prepare and deliver safety statistics and reports for board, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Manage training programs for Class 1 Professional Truck Drivers to ensure compliance and competency.
What you bring:
- Combination of both education, and hands on work experience. The successful candidate must come from a background where they have spent time in the field whether in transportation or logistics.
- Class 1 driver’s license is not necessary but would be helpful.
- 3 – 5 years in a leadership position required.
- General knowledge of basic mechanics and transportation equipment configurations.
- Proven experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with driver performance metrics and safety technologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills (in-person and virtual).
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
- Experience with Microsoft programs; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Forms and Publisher
- Ability to travel regularly to terminals and customer sites.
