This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus Below are the various opportunities available on campus: Counter Assistant To provide friendly and efficient counter service and food production while maintaining hygienic work area. The incumbent will assist in stocking and cleaning of area tools when necessary. Prepares food in an efficient and friendly manner as per customer request while ensuring a clean and sanitized work area; Serves on food line and operates cash register as required; Stocks product, sweeps area, empties garbage, and washes location dishes when required. Washes, cuts, and properly stores food items as per directions and/or par stocks while ensuring a clean and sanitized work area; Ensures proper labels are utilized for items; Stocks product, sweeps area, empties garbage, and washes location dishes when required. Cashier Assistant The incumbent will provide friendly and efficient cashier transactions at the Food Service location while maintaining a hygienic work area. The Cashier Assistant will assist in stocking shelves and making coffee when able. Completes cashier transactions and provide correct change if required; Ensure drink fridges, coffee area and cashier shelving are stocked; Provides efficient service, keeping areas clean at all times including server counters; Cleans, cuts and prepares fruit and vegetables for use in daily menu as required; Prepares sandwiches as required; Performs housekeeping duties as required. Production Assistant The incumbent is responsible for friendly, efficient service following all Algonquin College Food Services and/or branded locations operating standards, policies, and procedures. The Food Production Assistant works to prepare food production for service within the department following par stocks, while maintaining a hygienic work area. The incumbent will assist in stocking and cleaning of area tools when necessary. Washes, cuts, and properly stores food items as per directions and/or par stocks while ensuring a clean and sanitized work area; Ensures proper labels are utilized for items; Stocks product, sweeps area, empties garbage, and washes location dishes when required. Required Qualifications: Secondary School (Grade 10); Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere; Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service; Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stock a variety of merchandise, Excellent interpersonal and communication skill; Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask, ability to work effectively under pressure; Experience in a food service related industry and knowledge of food preparation an asset. Experience handling cash if applying for cashier positions an asset; Knowledge in kitchen sanitation and safety standards an asset.
