As a Business Development Manager, you will build new business for our client’s CNC machining services, focusing on machined metal components for industrial and manufacturing customers across Ontario. This is a true hunter role: Year 1 is 100% new business development, with Year 2 evolving into approximately 75% new business / 25% account management as you grow a portfolio of recurring machining work. You will report directly to the VP. The base salary for this position is $70,000 – $85,000 (with potential flexibility up to $90,000 for highly qualified candidates), plus commission.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Our client is a 16-year-old, family-owned manufacturing company based in Mississauga. Historically focused on mold manufacturing, they are expanding a complementary CNC machining and gun drilling service line to better utilize their existing CNC capacity and grow revenues with industrial customers. Employees are encouraged to be honest about any gaps in their skills, and management supports reasonable skill development. It is a close-knit, “clan-style” environment with low turnover and many team members having 5–10 years of tenure. You will work closely with, and report directly to, the VP, who values clear, direct communication and regular updates on pipeline and deals.
OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY:
Offices: Mississauga, ON
Work Arrangement: Office-based Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), with a strong expectation to be in the office daily, especially in the first year, for close communication, product learning, and daily progress updates
Territory: Ontario (no rigid geographic sub-territories), focusing on manufacturing and industrial customers that require metal machining services
EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of B2B sales experience (outside sales strongly preferred)
2–3+ years of industry experience in CNC machining / metal machining or very closely related machining services
Experience selling into manufacturing/industrial customers, working with Production Managers, Purchasing/Procurement, and operational leadership

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION
You will sell CNC machining and gun drilling services with a primary focus on metal machining. Typical work includes machined metal parts (e.g., aluminum components), covers and housings for pumps and machinery, and higher-volume runs of machined metal pieces.
Key industries served include general manufacturing and automation, aluminum foundry and metal casting, battery-related components, and broader industrial applications where precision metal machining is required.
PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S):
Prospective customers are small to mid-sized manufacturing and industrial companies (typically 20–99 employees) that require metal machining work. Industry focus includes battery box production, automation equipment, aluminum foundry and other industrial applications where machined metal components, covers and housings are needed. The core geographic focus is Ontario, with some opportunity to support U.S. customers.
Decision Makers: Typically Purchasing, mid-management, and/or senior operational leadership, with roughly two key influencers involved in most decisions
SALES CYCLE / PRODUCT VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE:
Typical Order Size: Approximately $1,000 – $100,000 per order
Ideal Annual Account Size: Around $2,000,000 in annual revenue per key account
Sales Cycle: Approximately 1–4 weeks for ideal accounts

This is a self-sufficient hunter role with no reliance on provided leads.
Year 1: 100% new business development; 0% account management
Year 2: Approximately 75% new business; 25% account management as a starter portfolio begins to generate recurring revenue

You will be expected to build and manage your own prospect lists, conduct cold outreach (phone, email, and visits), and convert new manufacturing customers into recurring machining accounts.

Local in-person client visits as required; no regular evening/weekend or overnight travel
SUPPORT & TRAINING:
Sales Training: As required, primarily self-directed and ad hoc; this role is designed for someone who already knows how to sell machining services and does not require heavy formal sales training
Technical/Product Training: As required, self-directed and ad hoc, typically up to one week of focused onboarding on capabilities, machines, and typical jobs, plus ongoing access to technical staff for questions
Management Support: Direct access to the VP for guidance, strategy discussions, and deal support, but day-to-day activity planning and execution are largely owned by you
