The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Camp Leader who will be responsible to provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Camp programs and take on more responsibilities than the counsellors. This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the club.

Primary Responsibilities
Be available to work for all 9 weeks of summer camp
Express drop off between 8:50 am – 9:05am ensuring safe check in and out
Maintain professionalism
Be motivated and have high energy throughout the day
Learning best practices for teaching camp activities, including working with campers with special needs, using inclusive teaching methods, and general camp management
Take attendance before and after each transiting to ensure all campers are accounted for
Model good behaviour for campers as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness
Develop age-appropriate weekly program plans to be implemented on a daily basis
Lead and support campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities
Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents
Reporting and recording details of accidents or incidents
Participant in regular staff meetings
Participant in training session prior to the start of camp
Be able to enter the swimming pool shallow end everyday with campers
Work with other camp counsellor to plan and coordinate camp events
Provide an engaging, stimulating, and safe environment for campers to participant in
Ensure First Aid Kit is up to date and with group at all times
Provide parents with positive feedback of their child’s day
Make sure area is cleaned at the end of each class and at the end of the day
Clean areas at the end of the activity
Ensure children eat their lunch and snack and sit with them
Model positive eating habits and encourage recycling
Creatively develop crafts and ideas for games to follow weekly themes
Dress up on dress up days
Ensure questions and concerns from parents are noted to the supervisor
Participate in non-instructional activities with children such as swimming, sports, tennis, etc. and encourage participation in these activities
Administrative tasks such as keeping accurate attendance lists and turning them in to the Camp Supervisors at the end of each week
Post weekly program plans and ensure changes are communicated to parents
Develop a detailed weekly schedule with team and distribute to front door, Camp Supervisors and KidZone/Hub
Be aware of all the information on medical forms such as alternate pick up people, allergies, and emergency contacts. Keep this information with you at all times
Provide feedback to your team as necessary
Delegate specific tasks to counsellors in their group
Be on time for shift and ensure you have all materials for the day ready 15 minutes prior to the start of camp
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12
Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required
A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children
Experience working with pre-school aged children would be considered an asset
Previous experience as a camp counsellor and supervisor an asset
Previous experience with one of the following: Art, Drama, Science, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Dance, French, Tennis, Squash, and Badminton is an asset
Required to work weekends, weekdays and/or holidays, AM and PM
