Job Description What is the opportunity? The Mid-Market Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Group is seeking an Analyst to support the team in Toronto, and to support team initiatives across Canada. You will support the Associate Directors, Directors, and Senior Directors in the preparation of presentations, research materials, proposals, financial models, and transaction documentation. The Mid-Market M&A team is a strategically important business unit that provides a value added services offering. Mandates include the sale of privately owned businesses and non-core divisions, acquisitions, shareholder and management buyouts, and capital advisory services. What will you do? Part of a national Mid Market M&A team, supporting the team based in Toronto and other offices across Canada Conduct thorough research on companies and industries and delivery of concise summaries Assist in the preparation of internal and external marketing materials Support team in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to internal partners, and existing and potential clients Prepare integrated financial models to support analysis in proposals and transaction documents Under direction of team members, follow up and engage with RBC partners including Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, and Wealth Management What do you need to succeed? Must have: Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields Relevant work experience in financial services - investment banking, private equity, accounting, or commercial banking preferred Thorough understanding of financial statements and accounting, including the relationship between the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, etc. Strong computer literacy with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel skills Strong understanding of financial modelling and valuation (i.e., discounted cash flow, leveraged buy-out analysis) Ability to use research tools such as Capital IQ to extract relevant background material for business development and transaction support Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints Nice to have: Prior experience working on capital markets transactions Experience in financial services and ability to manage complex concepts Knowledge of and interest in financial markets What’s in it for you?
