We are looking for a Facility & Safety Supervisor to join our team reporting into the Corporate Office of the COO.
Key elements of this role include:
Oversee all contractors and ensure standards are met including the contractor safety program;
Ensure coordination with the maintenance contracts including annual inspections for elevators, anchoring, fire protection and others are complete;
Assist with the coordination and communication of regular preventative maintenance;
Work with the facilities department at Nova Scotia Power to find efficiencies / cost savings;
Process all facility requests related to the Emera Place in a timely manner;
Coordinate all office and desk moves within the building;
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasting needs for the facilities department;
Review and arrange payment for invoices related to services obtained within the department;
Respond to urgent requests as needed.

Post secondary education in a facilities related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered;
Experience with Occupational Health and Safety principles;
Knowledge of trades related to site facilities, and repair;
Knowledge of facilities maintenance processes, procedures, and systems;
Supervisory experience would be considered an asset;
Knowledge of preventative maintenance principles and annual inspection cycles for building maintenance;
Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including MS Office products is required;
Strong collaboration skills required to work with various functions and operating company teams;
Demonstrated record of achievement with customer service;
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills consistent with Emera’s leadership competencies;
Planning, organization and prioritization skills with demonstrated evidence of critical thinking, problem solving and analytical processing ability;
Self-motivated, flexible and has the ability to work independently, with strong ethical standards;
Development and maintenance of good interpersonal relationships with all employees reflecting client focus in forming partnerships with other stakeholders to meet client needs;
Proven ability to lead initiatives independently and take ownership for actions and results;
Superior verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to work evenings and weekends is required;
